Boy After Bath27 viewsThis is a resin cast from a mold of an original sculpture of mine. My little son loves to run through the house after his bath wearing nothing but a towel, and he usually loses the towel pretty quick. When we were little, my brother's Naked Run Through the House was legendary. Maybe all little boys do this.

Persephone40 viewsI use this as my avatar on online forums. It's a close up of a paperclay doll that I sculpted in a class with Marlaine Verhelst
dymphna.JPG
St. Dymphna33 viewsThis was my entry for the Goddess and Patron Saint challenge that we did on dollmaking.org. This is St. Dymphna, patron saint of the mentally ill, holding her head after her father had her beheaded.

Egyptian caryatid doll, better focus36 viewsAnother picture of the caryatid doll.

Egyptian caryatid doll37 viewsShe looks like she doesn't have any arms, but I think I like the concept. A caryatid is a female figure used as a column in architecture. I have her hanging on the wall in my entry hall. I'm going to work on another caryatid but work more on the arms and legs. She has black novelty yarn for hair.

wire and paper armature64 viewsI'm working on this for a storybook doll for a show that a friend is doing in CT. There will be more details as she comes along.

Ice Queen61 viewsThis is a casting of an original sculpt of mine in clear resin. I love the look, although it's hard to work with.
mamabear.JPG
Mama Bear Topiary27 viewsI had this weird bush planted in the middle of my yard where I didn't want a bush. For the garden challenge at dollmaking.org, I decided to make it into a topiary. I've always wanted one.

examples to work with kids39 viewsI'm going to use some DAS clay with my sunday school class, so I made up these three examples of projects. I'm amazed at how well that head turned out. I think I am going to have to finish that doll, which was not my intention when I started this.

The Venus of Willendorf was the whole reason that I wanted to do this lesson. Yay, Willendorf.
noss.JPG
Noss, Freyja's daughter43 viewsI've been unhappy with this doll at every stage, but when I put the hair on I think she really perked up.
obitsu.JPG
Obitsu61 viewsHere is my japanese jointed doll with my first pass of painting the face. This is harder than I thought it would be. The techniques that I use on polymer clay don't work, because the paint stains the vinyl everywhere it touches. There is no smudging it on and wiping it off -- it has to be perfect the first time. This isn't a great picture. It looks like I did a good job because the tiny splotches aren't visible.
